First off, for those of you on my Friends List, here's a link to my First Post. "First Post" is the idea that we should all make our contact information available in case of emergency, and I think it's a great thing.

This livejournal is a chronicle of my daily life. As such, it is "Friends Only." For those of you not familiar with the LJ system, this means that only people who have signed up for an account can be given access to my journal, and only those account holders whom I add as "friend" are given access. If you would like to read my journal, please leave a comment on a public entry, or email tabbyfoo @ livejournal.com and tell me who you are, where you found my journal, and why you'd like to read it. If you don't, don't be suprised when I don't reflexively add you back. Adding strangers who haven't at least introduced themselves defeats the purpose of having my journal friends only. This is my journal, and I reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.

I am happily married to squidflakes (Ryan), a big geeky guy who is obsessed with all things ceph-related. I'm a stay-at-home mom to our kids, Korben and wee Sophie. We have two cats (Mao, Morbo), three dogs (Roxy, Sammy, and Gir), and a tarantula (Shelob - Chilean Rose Hair), and some fish in our backyard pond. For about 10 hours a week, I teach private singing and piano lessons at Harmony Music Studio in Friendswood. The rest of the time I am a stay-at-home-mom.

I really enjoy spending most of my time at home with my kids. Before we had kids, I did dial-up tech support off and on for 7 years, so it's safe to say I'm pretty geeky. I joined Weight Watchers the week before Thanksgiving in 2003, and lost 40 pounds. Unfortunately, when you get pregnant, they make you quit, so I had to stop going to meetings. I have just re-joined and am back on the WW bandwagon! I also have been known to occasionally list stuff on eBay as Tabbyfoo. I love to quilt and knit and scrapbook and... Ryan would say I have too many hobbies.

I've lived in only 3 places: Salt Lake City, Utah; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Houston, Texas, which is where I still live and have since 1999.
